Let's face it, finding the right therapist can feel a lot like online dating. Sifting through a sea of bios and photos, trying to get a sense of who will be the RIGHT FIT for your therapeutic journey. There are plenty of great therapists out there, and we all have something different to offer. You're right to invest this much time and energy in finding the perfect match because the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors for your progress. In fact, studies show that a good therapist-client relationship can improve therapy outcomes by up to 30% (Norcross & Lambert, 2018). On that note, I have done my best to outline information about my practice to help you in your decision.
What You Can Expect From Our Sessions Together
Team Work
I believe that we are a team with the same goals (your goals). Think of us digging a tunnel… exploring together: as the expert on your own life, you’ll hold the shovel and dig, while I hold the light and guide the way. My view is that the therapeutic journey isn’t about changing who you are but discovering more about yourself and then showing up in life in the way you really want to.
Fun
While therapy can be serious and sometimes feel challenging, I also believe in havingsome fun along the way. We’ll use different tools and methods, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and even life coaching techniques. This variety makes it possible to customize your therapeutic journey to you.
Practical and Useful
I believe therapy is a worthy investment that should be practical and helpful so you get the sense that it’s worth your efforts (and money). You may even be surprised that the the journey towards your goals might be shorter than you imagine.
What You Will Not Find from Our Sessions
No Diagnosing or Prescribing Medications
I don’t provide diagnoses or prescribe medications. You’re welcome to bring in any diagnoses or use such terminology if it’s helpful for you, but my role doesn’t involve using medication to treat clients. Many people find medication beneficial, but prescribing it is not a part of my practice.
No Couches Here
Contrary to popular media portrayals, therapy with me does not involve lying on a couch. We sit in chairs, and sometimes even move around. Going for walks outside is also an option.
Not Just for Crisis
Therapy isn’t only for crises or severe mental health issues. It can be beneficial for personal growth, managing stress, improving relationships, and more.
Not Just Talking
While talking is an important part of therapy, it’s not the only component. Therapy often involves a variety of techniques and activities designed to help you develop skills and insights.
Non Judgmental
We are all human. Our sessions will be held in a safe, non-judgmental space; you will never be criticized or judged for your feelings, thoughts, or behaviors. The goal is to provide support and understanding.
Not One-Size-Fits-All
There is no single approach to therapy that works for everyone. Sessions are customized to fit your individual needs and preferences, which means we may use different techniques and terminologies that work for you.
What Makes Me the Right Fit for Your Therapeutic Journey?

Do you have difficult feelings that come from anxiety or depression and make your days harder? Do you have to make choices that seem scary or overwhelming? There are lots of ways to get through this; I can help you find the best way that fits with your outlook in life.
I have spent 20+ years working in mental health, becoming a psychotherapist was a natural next step for me because, through my experience and education, I have learned a lot about coping strategies that work, recognizing triggers that cause bad feelings, and what can be done about those bad feelings once they come.
Together we can look at ways to make symptoms of mental health a little bit easier to deal with, to make hard choices a little bit easier to make, and to regulate feelings that might seem out of control.
